2 song to recreate a sort of unique, ethnic pangaea

From the award-winning documentary, "Playing For Change: Peace Through Music", comes an incredible rendition of the legendary Bob Marley song "One Love" with Keb' Mo' and Manu Chao. This is the third video from the documentary and a follow up to the classic "Stand By Me" and the incredible "Don't Worry." Released in celebration of Bob Marley's birthday on February 6th, this tribute to the legend is performed by musicians around the world adding their part to the song as it traveled the globe.

This cover of Stand By Me was recorded by completely unknown artists in a street virtual studio all around the world. It all started with a base track—vocals and guitar—recorded on the streets of Santa Monica, California, by a street musician called Roger Ridley. The base track was then taken to New Orleans, Louisiana, where Grandpa Elliott—a blind singer from the French Quarter—added vocals and harmonica while listening to Ridley's base track on headphones. In the same city, Washboard Chaz's added some metal percussion to it.
And from there, it just gets rock 'n' rolling bananas: The producers took the resulting mix all through Europe, Africa, and South America, adding new tracks with multiple instruments and vocals that were assembled in the final version you are seeing in this video. All done with a simple laptop and some microphones.

Da alcune settimane online gira questa cover della canzone Stand By Me che è stata registrata "on the road" in uno studio di registrazione grande quanto il mondo. I performer sono tutti artisti di strada sconosciuti e incontrati dagli autori del progetto iniziato circa quattro anni fa. Si comincia per le vie di Santa Monica dove il musicista di strada Roger Ridley ha regalato la sua personale versione di Stand By Me ai microfoni e al vento che leggero arriva dall'oceano Pacifico.
Il brano cantato da Roger è stato poi portato a New Orleans, dove il performer non vedente di strada Grandpa Elliott ha aggiunto la sua voce e il suono della sua armonica a bocca, mentre nelle cuffie ascoltava il brano registrato a Santa Monica.
La cosa è poi andata avanti lungo altre città degli States, dell'Europa, dell'Africa e del Sud America, dove altri artisti di strada hanno dato il loro contributo rendendo infine possibile il geniale esperimento musicale.
